
Brontë Heerdink is from Amsterdam, Netherlands, and she grew up in the suburbs of Austin,Texas. Her interest in geology started at Austin Community College on a field trip to the WichitaMountains National Wildlife Refuge in Indiahoma, Oklahoma. In 2020, Brontë transferred to Texas A&M University where she first learned about the scientific ocean drilling and sailed on the R/V Sally Ride with STEMSEAS. She completed her B.A. in August 2022 before continuing with her Master’s degree.
Brontë recently graduated from Texas A&M University with her M.S. in December 2024. Her Master’s focused on the capability of the Frio Formation to act as a carbon storage reservoir in Corpus Christi, Texas. Since May, Brontë has been a Carbon Services intern at the Battelle Memorial Institute, where her work focused on wireline log correlations and interpreting depositional environments in the Eau Claire and Mt. Simon Formations.
Outside of academics, Brontë enjoys traveling and sending postcards to friends and family.
